Francisco era um menino com um sonho: queria se encontrar com Deus. Um dia tomou a decisão de ir ao encontro de Deus. Mas sabia que tinha um longo caminho pela frente, portanto preparou sua mochila com lanches, biscoitos e guaraná, saiu de casa e começou a caminhada. Após algumas quadras, encontrou um velhinho bem simples, bem humilde, sentado em um banco da praça olhando os pássaros.
O menino sentou-se no banco junto a ele, abriu sua mochila para pegar um biscoito, quando olhou o velhinho e viu que ele estava com fome, então ofereceu-lhe um de seus lanches.
O velhinho muito agradecido aceitou e sorriu ao menino. Seu sorriso era tão incrível que o menino quis ver de novo, então ele ofereceu-lhe seu guaraná. Mais uma vez o velhinho agradeceu e sorriu ao menino.
O menino estava tão feliz! Ficaram sentados ali sorrindo, comendo biscoito e bebendo guaraná pelo resto da tarde sem falarem um ao outro.
Quando começou a escurecer o menino estava cansado, resolveu voltar para casa, mas antes de sair ele se voltou e deu um grande abraço no velhinho. Daqueles abraços apertados, que enchem o nosso coração de vida!
O velhinho deu-lhe o maior sorriso que o menino já havia recebido.
Quando o menino entrou em casa, sua mãe surpresa perguntou ao ver a felicidade estampada em sua face:
- O que você fez hoje que te deixou tão feliz?
O menino respondeu:
- Passei a tarde com Deus – e acrescentou – Você sabe, ele tem o sorriso mais lindo que eu já vi.
Enquanto isso, o velhinho chegou em sua humilde casa com o mais radiante sorriso na face, e seu filho perguntou:
- Por onde você esteve e por que está tão feliz?
E o velhinho respondeu:
- Comi biscoito e tomei guaraná no parque com Deus – e antes que seu filho pudesse dizer algo, completou – Você sabe que ele é bem mais jovem do que eu pensava?
E ambos estavam certos…
Esta é uma mensagem conhecida e bem simples, mas que traz um grande ensinamento: Nunca subestime a força de um sorriso, o poder de uma atitude ou um simples ato de carinho. Tudo isso tem o potencial de mudar nossas vidas e nos aproximar de Deus.

The boy sat down on the bench beside him, opened his backpack to grab a cookie when the old man looked and saw that he was hungry, so he offered him one of her snacks.
The old man gratefully accepted and smiled at him. His smile was so incredible that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him his guarana. Again the old man smiled and thanked the boy.
The boy was so happy! They sat there smiling, eating biscuits and drinking guarana for the rest of the afternoon without talking to each other.
As it grew dark the boy was tired, decided to return home, but before leaving he turned and gave a big hug at the old man. Those tight hugs that fill our hearts with life!
The old man gave him the biggest smile that the boy had already received.
When the boy got home, his mother asked surprised to see the happiness on his face stamped:
- What did you do today that made you so happy?
The boy replied:
- I spent the afternoon with God - and said - you know, he has the most beautiful smile I've ever seen.
Meanwhile, the old man reached into his humble home with the most radiant smile on his face, and his son asked:
- Where have you been and why are you so happy?
And the old man answered:
- I ate biscuit and took guarana in the park with God - and before his son could say anything, he added - You know he's much younger than I thought?
And both were right ...
This is a well known and simple message, but it brings a great lesson: Never underestimate the power of a smile, the power of an attitude or a simple act of kindness. All this has the potential to change our lives and bring us closer to God.
